There is no such thing as an IT project.

No customer ever chose to give their business to a company because it has a great IT system. If the product itself does not make the decisive difference, then customers will choose companies based entirely on their business processes, those which deliver the other factors which, for the customer, are important. IT systems almost invariably enable those business processes, but, while therefore vital, that is their only function. Anything that does not contribute to the support of a defined business process is quite redundant.
